The Cape Winds Resort is a wonderful window back in time to a simpler way of vacationing before on-site spas, couples massages, valet parking and grueling treadmill workouts. Substitute instead, kids playing baseball with the uncles and cousins, paddle boat rides, friendly employees who get to know you and really care if you are having fun and and answer one mlllion questions patiently with a smile. No large, flat screen tv's and muted upscale decor here, substitiute cheerful colors, and a tv and remote that are simple to operate, a back door that opens up to a spacious lawn with various lawn games, a heated pool and a view down to a tidal pond. Also paddle boats and row boats to goof around in. There is a nice double motor power-boat you can rent, but you will need to rent a captain along with it. We booked a kitchette which was perfectly adequate to prepare and serve meals with a spacious bath and dressing area; everthing was spotlessly clean and in good order. The friendly staff cheerfully answers one million touristy questions and requests for directions, but it is the individual concern shown by the owner, Rachel, that really stands out. Two examples; our room had a plumbing problem that was taking a little longer to fix than anticipated. Rachel came and found us at the pool, and offered us another room for the afternoon while the plumber worked in our kitchen. On Sunday morning as she drove by on a Starbucks run, she stopped and asked us if we wanted anything. To me that means that Cape Winds guests are really "her guests" and not just mobs of tourists bugging her at every moment. Having said that if you are looking for the upscale spa resort experience this place probably isn't for you. But why not take a chance on authentic Cape Cod, this is the place family memories are made for a lifetime. We will be heading back.

This was a nice atmosphere with beautiful pool with waterfall & lush lanscaping. The pool was full of people and a bit noisy the night we arrived. Our room was right over the pool area. I 'm pretty sure there was a huge wedding group there. Our room condition was in so/ so rug condition. wallpaper ect.,,considering the rate, but it did include breakfast and parking. I loved the sleep by number bed. Breakfast was a madhouse. So was the shuttling of people to the cruise terminal. I was not happy where we parked I didn't think it was as safe as parking at the cruise terminal. Plus I didn;t like having to wait for the return shuttle. Overall I have chose other options since then. Luna Sea was cheap $52 with breakfast, clean plain and simple. Also have stayed at the econo lode space ctr with free choice hotel points, that was nice and not too far away at all. Maybe ten minutes. If you have kids, and you have time to actually spend at the resort they will love the pool.

The Ron Jon resort was one of the nicest, amenity filled resorts we have ever stayed in. We had a 2-bedroom 5th floor corner villa in the Ocean Front building. The unit was beautifully decorated in a colorful Caribbean style, very spacious, and contained all the comforts of home, with the added bonus of a great balcony overlooking the ocean. The beach was beautiful and never too crowded. The pool area was a blast - something for all ages. We loved the lazy river ride. The entire pool is heated - even the water dumped out of the buckets over the lazy river riders. The pool attendants were not rude or overbearing - they simply enforced standard rules for the safety of the guests. We never had any issues. The pool bar had an unlimited soft drink refill program when you bought a Ron Jon cup for $5.00. What a deal, and the cup was a nice souvenir! The walk from the Ocean Front building to the pool took less than five minutes if we did not want to wait for the shuttle - but the shuttle was always running back and forth. We walked it most days just because it was a nice stroll. The resort was at full capacity, but there were always plenty of lounge chairs. The movie theater was a nice change of pace - we saw two shows during our stay. Our boys loved the game room. The children's indoor play area looked amazing - our kids were way too old for it but we loved watching the little ones at play. The putt putt golf was also a lot of fun. Now to the staff - every staff member we encountered was nothing but professional and so helpful. One evening a group of wasps decided to set up house on the patio while we were sitting outside waiting to watch one of the cruise ships go by. We called the front desk and someone was at the front door within ten minutes ready to take care of the problem. Regarding no maid service - this is a timeshare resort people; maid service is not usually part of timeshare amenities other than a mid-week cleaning service. Don't stay in a timeshare resort if you want maid service, but good luck trying to find a hotel room with two bedrooms (one with king bed and sitting area and the other with two double beds), two baths (one with a Jacuzzi tub), a full kitchen with dishes, silverware, bake ware, cookware, toaster, blender, coffee maker, teapot, and a dishwasher, a washer and dryer in the unit, a living room with a queen size sleeper sofa, TV, dvd/vcr player, and of course the balcony. Having to clean up after ourselves was a small price to pay for all the villa contained. We ate breakfast on the patio every day, lunch on the beach, and cooked a couple of dinners. Our boy’s fixed midnight snacks every night when they came back from fishing on the free pier next door to the resort. Many complained about the bedding and linens - our unit had very comfortable beds, nice big soft bath towels, and comfy sheets. The only complaint we could have made would have been about the pillows - they were a bit hard - but we got use to them. Check out is at 10:00 am because they have to clean the villa for the next group that will arrive in the afternoon. They advise you of this when you check in and have you sign that you agree to it, they have a flyer in the room explaining it, as well as listing it in the resort guidebook. This is also pretty standard among timeshare resorts. The only offer we got from the VIP desk that sets up appointments for tours was a door hanger with an invitation to pick up our free gift and a note stating to ask how to receive an extra $50. When I picked up the gift (a shell night light - which came in handy for the dark hallway between the bedroom area and the living room area) I advised we did not want to do the tour. Nothing else was ever said about it. To the people that took offence to wearing a Ron Jon wristband while at the resort - the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas requires guests to wear wristbands as well. It ensures the only people using the resort amenities are guests of the resort. Regarding no lights marking the walkway back to the resort from the beach - the beach area is a nesting location for endangered sea turtles. There is a city ordinance that prohibits lights on the beach after 9:00 pm because the lights can disorient the sea turtles and send them back into the sea without nesting. None of the properties in the nesting zone have lights on the beach. The resort also encourages recycling - with receptacles for glass, cans, plastic, and paper on every floor. I am so glad we did not change our plans after reading the negative reviews about this resort - we had a great time at a spectacular resort.
