State Flag of Florida

florida state flag
The state flag of Florida consists of a red diagonal cross printed on a white background. The design of the flag was approved by the referendum during the 1900’s. Initially the flag of Florida, consisted of the symbol on a white background, but then during the 1890’s the governor of Florida suggested the Red Cross, so that it would not look like a treaty flag.
Florida's flag represents the land of sunshine, flowers, palm trees, rivers and lakes. The seal presents a sparkling sun, a cabbage palmetto tree, a steamboat sailing and a resident American Seminole woman distribution flowers.
