On the beach, all rooms face beach, rooms are spacious (you can cram a lot of bodies in one), everything was functional though basic (small microwave and only 19 inch tv, double beds vs queens) , nice pool that gets afternoon shade, industrial strength ice cold air conditioning, plenty of hot water. This is a kind of ruggedized hotel built to withstand the rigors of life on the beach. Balconies and hallways are all concrete, no marble here. The rooms are basic but spacious and each has a private balcony overlooking the gulf. All the first floor rooms open beach side to a common concrete patio running the length of the building and is used by all to access the beach. So if you want more privacy get a room on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th floors. Only one elevator and it is slow but walking up is no problem. But the beach is yours and we saw as much or more marine life in the gulf snorkeling right off our beach as we did on the island cruise snorkel trip. I would imagine that the first floor rooms are the ones most difficult to keep clean and have the most traffic around them so I would avoid them, we stayed on the 4th. I give them only two "dots" for service because there really is very little in the way of staff provided amenities even though everyone we met was very friendly. You do get free kids meals at Sharkey's, next door but this is only with the purchase of a dinner entre per kid and a sandwich (pricey enough) doesn't count. This was a very fun place to stay. The worst part is the parking! With the Sharkey's restaurant next door the parking lot fills up every evening so if you return to the hotel during dinner hours or thereabouts you might have to park in the street and move your car later. Or, just stock up at walmart on the way in and you won't have to move the car for days. Plenty of places within a 20 minute walk including the new pier "mall". Have fun.

My wife and I came back from Mo Bay while staying at the Sunspree, and we had an amazing time! We knew what we were getting ourselves into when we booked the Holiday Inn, so we knew what to expect. The hotel is what it is. The food was ok, but the jerk chicken stand right on the beach was the best part! The rooms were a bit outdated but it's the Holiday Inn. My wife cut her foot on some sharp coral on the first day so beware! Just go and buy some water shoes and you'll be fine! Overall we had a great time and all the excursions were really funa nd exciting! Going into Mo Bay was a fun and the night life is exciting (if you're into that).
