This was my second stay at Rock Lake Resort (with my canine companion) and I enjoyed it even more than the first. The property is located on both sides of Palm Beach Boulevard; one side is more of a motor court with spacious, comfortable & clean rooms located in a courtyard and the other side has stone cottages, complete with kitchenettes, lakeside porches, swimming pool, tennis court, nature trail and laundry facilities. While all of the rooms are comfortably appointed, the cottages are perfect for a longer stay. The kitchenette is small but big enough to prepare a meal for two, the small porch overlooking the lake is private and the splash of the fountains conceals any traffic noise from the Boulevard, the pool is always sparkling clean, the nature trail great for walks with my small dog, a city park with pier on the Caloosahatchee River is an easy walk away and Rock Lake is close enough to downtown Fort Myers to walk there for dinner or entertainment. A historic district just down the street makes a perfect morning or evening stroll and the downtown area has undergone a recent revival with good restaurants, shops, marina and park with concerts. Rock Lake's management is attentive and eager to please guests and the housekeeping staff is excellent. This is truly "Old Florida" style lodging with beautiful landscaping; there really aren't many of these places left. If you are looking for low key, comfortable and charming lodging, this is the place for you.
