Space Shuttle Discovery blasts Off on to ISS

Space shuttle Discovery including its seven crew member blasted into the sky, after four days of its planned launch time. That was done because of a defective vent line, from which dripping of hazardous hydrogen gas was happening. On the other hand, mission managers believed that the two-day repair was a success, after which the external tank was fully filled with fuel and the vent went through an inspection.
There were just only some slight glitches on Sunday night. At a certain time, there was a slow down in helium force in a liquid hydrogen umbilical disconnect. A "red team" consisting of particularly qualified people went to the pad to make manual adjustments in so as to increase the pressure, so the ice wouldn't build up there where liquid hydrogen and oxygen lines go from the tank to the shuttle.
The area was cleansed with helium to avoid the build up of ice and the assembling of gaseous hydrogen and oxygen. At the commencement of the day the weather was only 80 percent but after sometime the weather officers gave a 100 percent clearance for launch of the shuttle.
The operation was reduced down to 13 days and three spacewalks due to the interruption. The team will set up the final piece of the solar arrays, in order to make available the full power to the ISS and thus praise a six member crew.
The Crew members in space settle discovery included the first Japanese astronaut to hang about on board the ISS, and there were other two teachers, including former Dunnellon Middle and Melbourne High science and math teacher Jo Acaba, whose spacewalks will assist in completion of the arrays.

NASA To Launch The Space Shuttle Tomorrow

Just one day left for the final takeoff of the space shuttle Discovery the NASA chief says that everything looks really good for the launch of the historical space shuttle Discovery. The mission managers have expressed their intent that they are not working for anything in particular for the liftoff and as far as the weather forecasts is concerned it almost looks perfect for the launch time. The crew of the Discovery will install the last major component of the International station built in U.S; this is something that the NASA people have been waiting for years together. The astronauts say that they are absolutely ready. The shuttle test director at the Kennedy space center, Steve Payne says that this evening they have a meeting with all the engineers, so that they could explain them the things they have been working for the last few months. The crew of the shuttle is completely in high spirits and they are completely eager to get flying. The mission top the space station is for two weeks but NASA says that there can be extension incase the situation demands it.

NASA says the launch of Discovery would be on March 11, 2009

The NASA managers have decided that they would launch the space shuttle called as Discovery on March 11, 2009 to the international space station. The news came after the inspection of the hydrogen flow control valves. The launch date has been one day earlier than the date that was prescribed earlier. However the final say is expected to come up after the review of the flight on Friday. However the managers have felt quite confident enough that they can take away the launch after the final analysis and testing. The liftoff time would be at 9.20 P.M on Wednesday. However it is important to note the fact that the NASA must launch the Discovery by March 13 so that it would stick on to its plan of ten day stay at the station and then return on March 26 on completion of its 72 hour journey, otherwise the shuttle will have to be postponed till April 7. There are seven astronauts who are intending to take up the mission of Discovery and haul the fourth and the final set of the American solar wings to the International Space Station.
