Florida,
Friday, April 28, 2006 Just four months had gone in year 2006 and as many as 12 panthers are killed having hit by cars. This is same amount of panthers that were killed whole last year. Wildlife biologist Larry Richardson said that the growth in Southwest Florida is pushing panthers to look for new habitats near Orlando, Tampa, and even as far away as Saint Augustine. More panther deaths means there is less natural habitat for the animal, which also has implications for humans. We need to keep a watch on that because our habitat is our source of water and clean air as well," said Richardson. But Joanna Fitzgerald Conservancy of Southwest Florida explained that not only panthers but also many animals like Turtles, possums, and burrowing owls are also killed due to road accidents
