We booked a short weekend stay at the Fairmont Turnberry for the Fourth of July weekend. We got a great web rate of $99 per night (plus all the extras), so it was an easy decision choosing which hotel to stay at. Other hotels in the area were double the price and not anywhere near as nice. The resort is located across the street from Aventura Mall, which is very convenient. The resort has a shuttle that will take you to the mall (the cost of the shuttle is included in your "resort fee"), although you could probably just as easily walk. Despite its close proximity to a shopping mall, the resort does a great job of blocking out outside distractions when on the resort grounds. You are surrounded by pools, fountains, and golf courses when on the property. In addition to the Mall shuttle, there is also a shuttle to the Beach club. The beach is a short drive (probably about 2 miles) away. The beach club seemed more out dated than the resort grounds, but you are there for the beach so I didn't care. The resort provided chairs, umbrellas, and towels at the beach. There's also a bar, restaurant, and pool at the beach club. After visiting relatives staying on N Miami Beach, I was actually relieved that the resort was located a few miles away. Parking and traffic around the beach can be a major headache, so it was nice to have a shuttle take you to and from the beach club and not have to hassle with anything else.
